It’s that time of year again for the KC Limits Christmas Show! We’ve got a great night planned for this year, featuring country band, Reckless Kelly. If you haven’t heard of this band, you’ve got to take a listen. Here’s some info on them.
Reckless Kelly is a Texas country band with a roots rock, Americana soul. The band’s been making music for more than 15 years, giving country-rock a new name and touring, swinging by the Lawrence area every now and then.
The band’s ninth and latest album, “Good Luck and True Love,” encompasses those past 15 years and redefines Reckless Kelly as a true, all-authentic band. The album was recorded in an old farmhouse-turned studio in Austin, Texas. The band members take pride in the fact that this album was recorded almost all live. “We wanted to make a record that sounded like we sound live, without any extra parts thrown in. We wanted it to sound like a band,” fiddle/mandolin player Cody Braun said. “Keeping it all in the same space and making sure it was an album rather than just a collection of songs was the main goal, and I think we came pretty close to what we set out to do…there’s a lot of continuity within this project.”
Micky and the Motorcars is Reckless Kelly’s direct support for this show. Willy and Cody Braun of Reckless Kelly are the older brothers of leading members, Micky and Gary of Micky and the Motorcars. It’s a Braun brothers party! The separate bands are obviously influenced by similar music, but both certainly have their own rockin’ country style.
The Reckless Kelly show is Friday, December 14 with supporting bands Micky and the Motorcars and Phil Hamilton. Doors open at 8 p.m. and the show’s on at 9. $13 for advance tickets and $15 the day of the show. Come celebrate Christmas early with some good country music!
